Troubleshooting OverDrive's mobile app on an iOS device (iPhone/iPad/iPod touch)

Please try these steps in order. Once your issue is resolved, you can stop—there's no need to continue on to the next step.
Step 1:
  1. Make sure OverDrive's mobile app is closed along with any other unnecessary apps.
  2.  Double-click the Home button to open your 'recents list.'
  3.  Swipe up on the OverDrive app to close it. Or, if you're not using iOS 7, tap and hold the OverDrive icon until it begins to shake. Tap the red X to close it.
  4. Close any other unneeded apps.
  5.  Press the Home button to exit your 'recents list'.
  6. Open OverDrive's mobile app and check the 'Bookshelf'. If titles are missing, try downloading them again.
  7. Continue to Step 2 if the app is still misbehaving.
Step 2:
  1. Restart your device.
  2. Hold down the Power button until the red 'slide to power off' slider appears.
  3. Power your device off.
  4. Hold down the Power button until your screen lights up.
  5. Open OverDrive's mobile app and check the 'Bookshelf'. If titles are missing, try downloading them again.
  6. Continue to Step 3 if the app is still misbehaving.
Step 3:
  1. Reauthorize your device.
  2. Tap Settings from the Home menu. If you're using an older version of our app, you'll find settings under Get Books+.
  3. Tap Deauthorize.
  4. Tap Authorize, then sign back in with your Adobe ID.
  5. If this doesn't resolve your issue, please continue to Step 4.
Step 4:
  1. Uninstall then reinstall OverDrive's mobile app.
  2. This will clear your bookshelf, history, and app settings. You can save the list of titles in your history by going to Home Menu > History > Edit. Tap Select All, then Share. From there, you can email the list wherever you like.
  3. Note: If you're using a 1st generation iPhone or iPod touch, please back up OverDrive Media Console (OMC) to iTunes before uninstalling. OMC is no longer available for your device from the App Store
  4. Tap and hold the OverDrive iconuntil it begins to shake.e.
  5. Tap the 'X' on the icon.
  6. Tap Delete to remove the app.
  7. Tap the Home button to return to your home screen.
  8. Install OverDrive's mobile app from the App Store and try downloading the titles again

o    Note: To download EPUB titles, please reauthorize your device. To download previously downloaded titles, please be sure to use the same Adobe ID you used previously.

Apple iOS 7 and OverDrive Media Console

Apple released iOS on September 18th and many of your Apple users may have upgraded their device(s).

When an existing OverDrive Media Console (OMC) user upgrades to iOS 7, the app will fail when trying to open a DRM-protected eBook. New or first time users of OMC are unaffected by this issue.

We are resolving the issue but in the meantime, here are immediate remedies for users:

1) Re-authenticate the app with their existing or a new Adobe ID. Refer to the iOS section of this Help article for assistance. (Recommended)
2) Uninstall and re-install OMC which will also require the user to re-authorize with Adobe. IMPORTANT NOTE: A re-install will clear a user's bookshelf, history, and app settings.

Audiobook users won't notice that anything is different unless they attempt to download parts of audiobooks they already downloaded to OMC before upgrading to iOS 7. A user will receive an error message informing them to download the title again.

Thank you,
Dee
